The W.I.S.E. Project (2014)
Funded by Derbyshire Police, and in collaboration with CAMHS and RSD Derby, PAD Productions were proud to devise, develop and deliver a series of performances for deaf students, with the aim of raising awareness of Internet Safety.
Aptly named 'Working for Internet Safety for Everyone' (W.I.S.E.), the project saw its initial performances take place in June 2014. Initially in Derbyshire, these flagship performances marked the beginning of an exciting wider project, rolling out across England, educating young people about how to stay safe online.
The team created a site-specific dram from scratch, telling the story of a young girl who makes all the wrong decisions about what to share online, and who with, with a strinkingly unambiguous ending. The hard-hitting performance was then replayed, with live interaction from the audience, who worked together with a PAD Presenter, to change the outcome.
Our team of actors and crew were all deaf professionals from a variety of career paths.
Helen Shepherd, Co-ordinator of Teaching and Learning at RSD Derby, said;
"The experience that our pupils had was extremely beneficial. The approach of the interactive drama ensured all were engaged and fully taking on what was being didscussed. It prompted discussions and development after the event. The pupils are enthusiatic about working with the group again."
Other comments regarding the project include;
"A great experience working with such a professional company. We gave them the brief and they delivered." "An extremely talented and committed company." "The man was bad, but he wasn't so bad, but he became bad. That was bad."
Due to the sensitive nature of the topics covered, we cannot post any performance pictures, but pop back soon for more actor profiles!
