About us

Founded by Emily Howlett and Lara Steward, PAD Productions was a direct response to the shocking lack of support and promotion available to d/Deaf creative professionals in the mainstream sectors.

There is still an alarmingly widespread perception that deaf (and disabled) artists, films and productions can never match the same high standards as their mainstream competitors. This is completely ridiculously untrue, and when it comes to informing the wider world of that, PAD Productions are privileged to be among those leading the way.

PAD Productions continually runs as three strands; Artistic Productions, Educational Productions and Outreach.

Our productions are critically acclaimed full-length or short stage and film projects. These are devised and produced in-house, by collaboration with freelance artists and professionals. Our Artistic Productions showcase and tour at mainstream theatres, venues and festivals, while our Educational Productions are aimed at schools, charities, community groups and corporate events.

Our Outreach program includes

  • Advising (at any stage of production) companies and individuals wishing to use honest representations of deaf characters in their work.
  • Providing a support network for deaf individuals wishing to promote their work across mainstream sectors (including securing funding, contacts and placements).
  • Devising and delivering workshops for all sectors (education/community/corporate). For more information on workshops please click here
